Default Question about owning a legal copy

A friend of mine recently bought il2 1946 on steam... but it had flaws like il2setup.exe didnt work and some other minor issues, so he torrented the game dvd and downloaded everything manually and everything worked flawlessly...

is this considered as an illegal act? he allready owns the game legally.

All he did was repair a game he already bought. Vary legal and not guilty.

Was the torrent made available to others as part of his process?
