I believe the latest beta patch is 14 214.When it becomes official it will be on steam for automatic d/l with a new version number.

As far as I know patches must be installed in order. Not a problem for steam.

Beta patches must be manually installed.

14101 is the version on the splash screen, even after updating to 14214. Makes it all a bit confusing...

Lange, I don't think you are correct. If you have installed the beta patch correctly, you should have a 14214 version showing.

Well, you might be correct but then i have no clue on how to install it correctly because all there is is a zip file with 2 directory's into them (Paintschemes and Parts), including some subdirectory's but without any readme on what goes where. As far as i know, i needed to extract those into the steam cliffs of dover directory which i did. And that does not give me 14214 on the splash screen.

First: If there is more to it then above i would like to know where to find that information?

Secondly, why is that patch not offered through Steam in the first place? If i go for update through Steam with my 14101 version, Steam tells me there is no update (downloadable content) available. Makes it even more confusing... why isn't that patch released through Steam if Steam id the only to get your game going? And saying it's just a beta doesn't help because then this whole shitty product shouldn't haven been released in the first place.

BTW, i do have a readme file dating from 23-04-11 (when i applied that 14214 patch) stating this:
README V1.2
GAME VERSION 1.0.14101
(April 18, 2011)

It is not on Steam because it a test beta patch. All test beta patches are installed manually. Copy and paste over same named folders but I think you should wait for the official patch through steam any time now...

If you do it correct, it should show 1.00.14214 on main menu, I use Winrar running as administrator set in settings (right-click and open utilities or what it's called, using non english myself, and open Compatibility menu, then select 'Run as admin')
I have my steam installed in C:\games, so it's probably slightly different from mine.
Extract the beta udate manually into C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover.

It would be nice to have a sticky listing just the latest patch details and number 1.0.14101 or is it 1.00.14214 so that we know.
A lot of people are posting about issues affecting beta patches. This should somehow be seperated from normal posts as it all gets rather confusing.
One guy states things have improved, another says it has not and... then confusion sets in.
I am dissapointed that we are now the official beta testers for the game.
A handfull of people with an assortment of systems should be chosen to test and varify issues.
If you look at ROF they have a select group of people testing. These guys know what to test and how to provide constructive feedback.
Their system data is known by the developers so they can insure a cross-spread of pc and graphic card/os configurations are tested.
What we have at the moment is a community based team (team dalious) out shining the developers with regards to beta testing of il2 patches etc...
This does not inspire confidence in the current development team.
I know there are several ATI betatesters currently flying the game to test issues, wish someone had maybe contacted them beforehand and let them loose at the alpha stage...
I am sure Nvidia has similiar teams available...
