Default Omg!!!

Even though my system struggles with CLOD, i decided to push all graphics to max @ 1900x1200 res just to see what the game would actually look like. OMG!!! it was beautiful, shadows awesome, aircraft detail awesome, landscape detail very impressive, inside cockpit affects left me speechless.

Okay at these settings it stuttered, farted and was almost unplayable(except over water), but i can certainly see that once it's properley optimised it will be an absolutley bloody awesome sim. I plan on updating my gpu to either a 480GTX or a 570GTX today, just not sure if 1536MB ram on a 480 is better than the 1280MB on the 570 for this sim?

Good for you, there are plenty of threads for you to post your impressions or ask system spec questions in already...

Go for the 580GTX, its worth it believe me. The 480gtx = 570gtx in performance, the 570's vram is clocked alot higher which makes up for the discrepency, but like said its worth it to get a 580, if not then a 570 is better than a 480.
If I was you, I would go for 1 580 or two 560ti in sli.

Two 560 Ti 2 GB will kill a 580 GTX 1.5gb

The 560 Ti 2GB is a great alternative

Only when the sli is fixed

I'd go for the 570 myself.

I have a 480. It gets high ratings in all tests ive seen over the 570.

Buy it! Great performance in CoD!

Be careful and check the PSU you have, the 480GTX and to a lesser extent the 570GTX will consume a lot of power. Anything less than a 600w brand name PSU will struggle.

I have a similar setup, Q6600 clocked to 3.6ghz, 4gig DDR2 1600 and a GTX570. I run with Effects on high, land shading medium, land detail medium, building detail and amount medium, everything else high, 1900x1200 no AA (since it's not working) and get 30-40fps over land (15-28 over London) and 40-75fps over water depending on amount of planes. This is with No SSAO and current (as of 4/15 in the AM) patch version.

Truth! When I got my 570 (had an 8800GTS 512) I had a 600W Silverstone Strider. Thought I had enough juice but no, turns out the amps were too low as it was an older ATX 2.1 with 4 12V rails at 18a each. Had to get a new Corsair 750W psu (boo-hoo right, lol).

Yep, same here, I had a HD4870 and went to a HD5870 when they were released. My no brand 600W PSU just would not handle it at all, constant BSODs and lockups. I also bought a Corsair 750 modular PSU, it even runs my Crossfire HD6970s without problems.
