Default Multiplayer Sync problem?

I just copied and paste from the Syn forum, save my typing fingers:

Re: Syndicate server

I left the server 10mins ago.. was approx 40 ppl.

I know you mentioned it in another thread, but there really something suspicious happening here. All these people on the server and I only saw two other player's, and a pilot flying with-out a plane. lol.

Anyway. As you know, in the chat box new spawns are related to each player. "x plane at I6", for example. Now, I was flying over that particular airfield and I didn't see any German planes despite the chat-box being updated telling otherwise.

I decided to track record on the server (never used it before). Sadly it turns out that it's functionality is poor. The recording is fine, but I was hoping to switch planes from the track file, but no such luck. I couldn't even look from outside.

I really do think there is some kind of sync problem that gives the effect of many players being in the same place and time, but like sci-fi, a parallel dimension.. well you know what I mean. If this is the case then that really throws a spanner in the works for MP in CoD.

I know I'm not the only one thinking along these lines, and I have had my suspicions for awhile now. Just can't find a way to prove there is an issue.

It's a big map for sure, could be many reasons why we dont' often bump into people. But the new plane at so-and-so reference but no visible plane spawned at the airfield visually has made the above suspicion more solid imo.

I was in Syn yesterday, flew from France to England and back, by the direct route hung around the ships for a while and saw nobody.
Net stats said there were around 20 people in the server. I assumed everyone was hiding somewhere...

I can confirm that this happens from time to time. Lots of people on the server, but I seem to only be able to see friendly aircraft. And a flying pilot with no aircraft here and there.

We are going to try patching the server. From what I read through the chat logs people were playing on it with the beta patch, so perhaps it might have some reverse compatibility for those that havne't used it yet as well.

One error that stands out above the rest is we are getting a P2PConnection error from steam (this shows up in the dedicated dos box from time to time and usually that's what has been closing/crashing the server)

My question to those more knowledgable, is do we need to enter the dedicated server's IP address in the confs.ini "IP=" line?

I just don't get what is causing the issue. The cpu usage is only around 10% even with 40 players and who knows how many AI planes. The server has a 1gbps upload/download connection too.

Has anyone seen this in other servers as well?
