Default Trim Wheel

Saitek have now produced a trim wheel......

http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/trimwheel.html

no more fiddling with thr keyboard or trim wheel in the cockpit to get trim just right - just use a wheel.

Looks nice but one each for aileron, elevator, rudder and maybe a few more for radiators, pitch and mixture - starting to get expensive... Much cheaper (and more interesting) to build some yourself!

well the price is not that much, but for il2, trim is more usefull in a throttle axis for example

I have the Saitek throttle, which has a rocker switch below each of the controls: throttle, prop pitch, mixture. I use these for the three trims. Works very well.

Looks cool. I'm using the CH Quadrant for elevator trim, rudder trim, prop pitch, fuel mixture, engine radiator, plus one axis for either oil cooler or aileron trim as needed.

Also with my CH Products and the CH Control Manager you can assign one of the hats on either stick or throttle to manage trim wheels and your flaps wheel in the Bf109. Its that simple!

Almost all joysticks out there have some sort of trim wheel though. What I like much better is this throttle quadrant here http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/quad.html which could be used for CEM (mixture, radiator, prop pitch).

Although I'm not sure how binky9 trims with a rocker switch (2 state afaik) I'm all for button trimming and heavy use of buttons in general and for as many controls as possible. The reason is simple: easy to reset after a crash if you spawn a new plane.

Madfish,

I push the rocker switch up for nose up and push it down for nose down, until I get the nose where I want it. If one push is not enough, repeat. Same for rudder and aileron trim.

Using track ir as well I actually put the elevator trim on the pov switch and, very usefull for the 109, the flaps are on my pov switch as well, the wheels keep turning as long as you keep the switch pushed.

Just got the Saitek quadrant and am loving it, whole different flying.
