Default Engine restart

Sometimes in a dogfight, I kill the engine in mid-flight and can't get them to restart. When I try restarting the engine by pushing "I" it said "Stopping." Hit it again and it said "Stopping" again!

Is there a way to restart the engine in-flight?

Thanks

Point the nose at the ground and pick up airspeed. The prop is still windmilling, the engine is still pumping fuel and the magnetos are still making sparks, so the engine will restart on its own after a few seconds.

You can get the blades turning enough in a dive to start it but of course that is a decision that must be made within a reasonable distance to the ground.
