I just reinstalled IL-2 1946 and 4.09m and XXXXXX (prohibited discussion) on Win 7 64bit and I had thought that I had less jaggies before? I think I was using some enhancer settings to force AA and AF similar to FSX, but my memory is terrible these days. Doe anyone know the best settings similar to Enhancer that are good in Nvidia Inspector?

You can still use 'nHancer' if that's what you're familiar with, in conjunction with 'NVIDIA Inspector'. That's what I do.
The 'best' settings though depend on your hardware and what compromise between frame-rate and image-quality you want. After the discussion in this thread - http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=17557 I'm currently using (via 'NVIDIA Inspector') '8xSQ [Combined: 2x2 SS + 2x MS]', with 'Antialiasing- Transparency Supersampling' set to 'Supersampling', and with no Anisotropic filtering (or in-game mirrors on the airplanes). These settings are definitely the best I've ever used in terms of reducing in-cockpit jaggies, and are pretty close to the best settings overall. But as I said, you'll have to tweak according to your own preferences and make up your own mind. Just make sure you have 'Antialiasing - Mode' set to 'Override any application setting' in order to force whatever antialiasing settings you choose. |

Les,
Thank for that info, I read the thread it was helpful. I had no issues getting AA enabled again with Inspector, but was a little confused as to the best settings for best visual improvement. I guess a little trial and error is needed. And I think enhancer is partially broken with the newest nvidia drivers, as I was also reloading and setting up FSX on Win 7 64 and had read that there are issues with current drivers and Inspector was the way to go. Any idea on best visual setting between AA and AF? I may try to decrease if my FPS is hit to much. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Cheers, Have a Merry Christmas. |

Here's my Global profile exported out of NVIDIA Inspector. Try renaming that, importing it and seeing how it makes things look to you.
I'm not running SLI or multi-monitors though, and it looks like you are judging by your current settings, so you might have to change a couple of my settings to suit your hardware setup. I'm not an expert at any of this and I haven't experimented much with a lot of these advanced settings, but I can say, once you start getting into stuff like 'Combined AA' modes, and 'Transparency Supersampling' (which is essential for anti-aliasing to work on the cockpit gauges for example) instead of 'Transparency Multisampling', the whole ball-game changes in regards to the 'usual' AA and AF settings and the way they all relate to each other and work together. I mentioned some of this in more detail in the other thread. So, it's not possible anymore to just say "use 16xAA and 16xAF, or fractions thereof depending on your framerate", and leave it at that. There are different kinds of AA now, working in different ways and applied to different parts of the image. Having said that though, it could well be that all those complicated and obscure looking advanced settings I've never seen before aren't really all that complicated. I imagine too a lot of them are just irrelevant or superfluous for the average end-user, and at the end of the day, I just can't be bothered sorting through them and all their possible combinations anyway. At the moment, for me, the settings I'm using are giving me a good balance between frame-rates and overall image quality, with a level of in-cockpit anti-aliasing I've never seen before, so I'm sticking with those for the time being. What works for you is up to you. |

S!
I wonder why you do not get FSAA to work in IL-2 via nVidia Control Panel? Works for me just fine, any setting I use. But that nVidia Inspector sure is a handy tool ![]() |
