As perfect as this game is I was thinking about some interesting features that could be added once SOW is released. For example…
-Maybe a “gun camera view” that would change the image to black and white and slightly slo-mo when you fire guns -In real gun camera footage you often see a severely damaged plane drop a wheel almost like a wounded bird. This would be a neat effect in addition to the smoke and fire. -See the pilot slump forward when he is dead or wounded…no need for blood Others??? |

The first of these already exists in IL2 and the second has been shown for BoB.

Exactly. I just think that if Oleg wants SOW to be super-successful it would be good to add a bunch of fun or "arcade" features that the hardcore sim peson could either turn on or off. And maybe it would bring a lot of casual sim geeks who are huge into fun effects.

Both the Merlin and the DB601 are awesome sounding engines, and I'm hoping for a big improvement on IL2 on release. ![]() |

I think this event occurs very little in WW2, the guncam footage you see is obviously selected, by people who found this interesting as well, the rest of all the gun games are for the most part the same, now people think this is common. It is realistic, but I do not want this to be overdone, it should really be in 1% of all cases, because landing gear does not drop down on touch, and if there´s more then just a touch the wing breaks off, so there´s little chance for this event.

Actually it depends a lot on how the gear retracts. For example, if the gear needs hydraulic pressure to keep the locking pins in place, then a hit in the hydraulic line and the resulting loss of pressure could cause such a thing. If however the landing gear depends on an electric/servo system, there would have to be a malfunction in the servos. Or maybe the manual extension system could be triggered by battle damage. In some aircraft this was a simple gravity system that just released the locking mechanism and let the gear drop into place on their own, then the pilot was advised to exert some more pressure by pulling a few positive Gs in turns to make sure the gear locked in the down position.
It's definitely a possible situation, but to know more about it and have it accurately modelled we would have to know exactly what kind of gear retraction systems were used in each aircraft type. |

#3 is already shown in the demo that Oleg posted. Watch for a Hurri going down in flames......
