Rubbish... I you do a bit of research into the Sumurai (and Kamakazi) 'Culture' of that time you'll find a very different story to the western propaganda.
That grenade was meant for himself, as they considered it 'Dishonerable' to be captured... Shooting the 'remains' was maybe what that pilot wanted.

These people were indoctrinated from a young age into the Sumarai culture.. they knew nothing else, as their lives were controlled by the military establishments... This rings a bell on modern local events

Next week, I get to go on a nine day holiday to New Guinea, where I will walk the 97 odd KM from Kokoda back to Port Moresby, My Dad was part of the AIF that served there in '42.

Now during the fighting that occured during the Kokoda Campaign, not a single Australian solider that fell into Japanese hands survived, they were all killed by their captors. If you would like to research some history and prove me wrong please do.

Don't blame the US servicemen for being human, they were no worse and probably much more humane to their captives than their opponents.

Indoctrination is not an excuse for committing war crimes.

ST.. I also had relatives/'old friends' over there, but was trying to explain how the majority of the Japanese military were indoctrinated - and try understand their reactions to events.

This is not to say that their actions were ok, by any means.
