so then i think someones lying then,as if it was made then sent to Q.A
why then has Anton now turned round and said "Unfortunately, no good news. Publisher thinks that it is not commercially reasonable to create, QA, and release title update for X360" that statement sounds to me as though it never existed in the first place, look carefully at the word CREATE,meaning to make something |

After much searching by Robotic Pope, this is the only reply from Anton that can be found that references to the Xbox patch, all others relate only to the PS3. Note that he initially talks about development and members are quidk to ask for clarification on this.

I must say I'm surprised that the XBox failed over PS3 though as it is reportedly the easier of the two systems to develop for. |

Here's what I think happened.
Dev's go to publishers saying it needs patch.. Publishers say can't do it sales are poor and that if the DLC goes well then maybe. DLC bombs.. Devs do a very cheap (self funded) and quick patch on PS3 to see if it has any effect on sales of the game, it doesn't (there's no way the patch took 4 months to develop, it's minimal to say the least). money for xbox patch is dependant on that, so no xbox patch. Publishers pull the plug. RIP BoP, sequal with different publisher? or abandon consoles? Last edited by winny; 02-13-2010 at 01:16 PM. |

I can't see a sequel on consoles, as depressing as that is. The online play is great in bop but as good as it is it's lite compared to other games. Leaderboards are terminally broken and punish good players. There is no persistant ranking up and little customisation options. It's a fact that tacked on multiplayer is not sufficient these days. To get people off modern warfare or mag a game needs online depth. Casual players won't stick with bop becasue there is no reward for persevering.
I have been playing solidly since the september launch and I am still not bored with it. But if guys like mcq, gilly and winny were not playing I am not sure I would still be playing as much as I am I hope that if a sequel is planned the devs take a long hard look at some of our sugestions on this board for gameplay features we would like to see |

Given that the PS3 has the better platform, PC joysticks, no on line fee, patch improvements I would expect that it would have a much bigger on-line community. I was thinking of getting a PS3 but maybe I should wait and see how things go.
The question I have is why did the devs inform us and not 505? I suspect that 505 passed the buck on this and that the devs themselves had the final say but they would have to fund it, hence their offer to reduce the price of WOP for console users and announce no Xbox patch. Might be wrong but something does not add up here, devs told not to communicate then suddenly.......out of the blue........need I say more given that the devs funded the PS3? |

What's not to understand. Thes devs DID make a patch for the game, According to Anton 505 had some deal with sony and the patch got submitted to them first. The plan was to release ot to ms after it was out on ps3. It came out on ps3 and the last thing we heard from Anton is that it would be submitted to MS. If it was indeed submitted as planned then it was rejected by MS quality control probably for the glitches that sony missed, some controls on custom not working etc
The puplishers have to pay microsoft a fee (of unknown amounts but probably in the thouasands of dollars range) everytime they submit a patch regardless if it passes or not. MS dont deal with developers direct its all thought puplishers so 505 would have to pay for further development on the patch and again to MS submitting the next patch as many times as needed. They obviously dont feel that all that cost is worth extra sales it may generate. A patch being done is pretty much the second phase of four to get it realsed 1)development of patch 2) patch is 'done' internal QA 3) submissal to platform holder and their QA 4) either approved and released or rejected back to publisher, start over. |
