Default Optimum Sound Setting for Titanium X-Fi & 5.1 Headset

I am wondering which are the optimum sound settings for my system. I would like to use the best balance between sound quality, speed and competiveness.

Like it says in the title i have a Titanium X-Fi Prof. and a Medusa 5.1 headset (Windows 7 64bit). Now i am really lost with the options that i have: Should i use speakers set to surround or will that give me a disadvantage when planes get on my six? Do i still have that problem with speakers set to quadrophonic or headset? Should i have soundhardware acceleration checked or not and which 3d mode is best: standard, minimal, balanced or maximum? How many channels to use? Should i turn EAX in my audio system controls on or off?

I fly mostly online, so i don't to have a disadvantage compared to others yet still use most of the audio candy that IL-2 has available...

I'd appreciate your help
