Question Should I Buy The Saitek Aviator?

I have found it for £30 on Play.com. I have always wanted to have a joystick for my 360, however I need some Q's answered:

How long is the cable that connects to the 360?
Is it good with Birds Of Prey (Despite the current issues e.g. brakes etc.)

Thanks

Nat

Here's a test.
Tape fortune cookies to your controller on the triggers and on top of the joysticks. If you can play 20 hours without cracking a cookie, then the Aviator is for you.

j/k
It's ok, but build quality is pretty bad. Not a lot of feel with it due to shape of the stick and poor resistance and no force feedback. Worst of all, the button layout *is* bad and inconvenient. Until we get the title update, you get no wheel brakes for landing like you have with the controller. I went back to using the (360) controller a while back and I'm happier for now.

Default Should I Buy The Saitek Aviator?

The cable is approx 10ft in length.
You will need to get an adapter for your xbox360 headset or you can use an original Xbox headset.
I find the flight stick very good, especially on the realistic mode.
The only problem is that you have to take your hand off the throttle to use the camera button.
Hopefully we will get a patch someday to reconfigure the buttons!

I love it when I play sim. Hate it for realistic. Button mapping is the main issue.

The cord on mine is 8'8", strange number I know but I just measured it LoL. The button layout is a little goofy but the major gripe I have is the dead zone makes it tough to input those very small corrections to finely aim your shots. I play mostly realistic and while it aint perfect, I prefer the Saitek over the stock controller.

I haven't seen an adapter to allow the flat surface. You might find a cell phone headset with the right plug size, but I haven't done that with the 360. I've used the 360 wireless headset for a few years now, it helps avoid a lot of problems. If you do any pc gaming, the wireless receiver for pc picks up the headset as well as the controller. Very nice for pc gaming as well as the 360.

Looking at Amazon, this Plantronics has the right plug. Wired but inexpensive:

Supposedly you can contact Saitek and they'll send you a headset adapter for free. The newer Xbox headsets have a normal plug, and they work fine too without an adapter.

Saitek Australia sent me one after 2 emails...it arrived 2 days later. Hopefully Saitek UK/US will be just as good...best after sales service I've ever had.

I find the stick useful...the deadzone is offset by the really intuitive twist rudder. its either 30quid for the AV8r or 100 for the hori...
