Makes no sense asking questions like this. They probably had a pretty good deal, most attractive available. Why else?
Even if that's not the case, it's not like they're gonna tell us.

yeh lots of player suport lots of updates and dlc lol
proberbly not much else on the table because this is a new market and companies like to make sure money is comming in

They pitched the game to various publishers. 505 gave them the best or only offer to greenlight it.

It was going to be published by Ubisoft, but it's just as well that it wasn't, because Ubisoft makes nothing but trash. Ubisoft is releasing their own ww2 air combat game soon, the trailers are online. Probably another Blazing Angels deal.

<edit> I just figured out Ubisoft's game is Heroes over Europe. Duh... must be that abnormal brain Igor picked out for me.

I wonder if Ubisoft is trying to bury IL-2, it would be a shame to see Ubisoft win just cause it's a big company

More often than not, developers aren't in a position to choose a publisher and they may or may not consider themselves lucky to find even one that is interested. Especially in a game not considered mainstream by publishers' holyer-than-thow spreadsheets. And even more so in a global reccession.
