Making the discussion threads by Oleg & Luthier Invite only
I've done a bit of googling, and it is possible with this type of forum (vbulletin) to make threads 'invite only', meaning that anyone can read them, but only people invited to comment can remark in them.
It's a sorry state of affairs, but the number of stupid arguments or frankly rude and offensive questions that are put to both Oleg and Luthier doesn't seem to be going away. I'd like to suggest that the threads are put to invite only, and people can request an invite to post. If they then behave like assholes, the invite can be rescinded. My hope is that this can reduce the moderators' workloads and prevent obnoxious posters from spoiling the forum for everyone else. |

Then what is the point of being registered if you can't post?

The suggestion is only for the development threads, not for the forum itself.

And who would deside who is "nice enough" to post?
just think about what your asking for.

I'm not suggesting anyone decides who is 'nice enough'; it would be anyone asking for posting rights getting them. The point is that anyone acting the fool could have his right to post in the thread taken away.

By making this thread, IMHO you are just lowering yourself to their level (whoever they are).
Seriously, I think some people take the internet way too seriously. Let Oleg, Luthier and co decide who annoys them or what questions they wish to answer |
