Cool HE 219 Uhu

I must say that I am very dissapointed that the HE 219 Uhu is not part of the Il-2 realm. The Eagle Owl was on of the most technically advanced aircraft of the WW2 conflict. Radar, ejection seats, heavy firepower, a very effective night hunter. Sad to say that Microsoft has it in their Sim X but not at Il-2 the premier WW2 combat sim.

I am hoping some one will prove me wrong here and tell me where to find it...

cheers,

Ed

Everyone has his/her favorites...What's the point of a night hunter without night prey?

As far as I know, the plane is not included in the standard Microsoft package, but is an add-on, so you're holding Il-2 to a double standard. But yeah, there's a mod. Have fun.

Wink

That's also modded, but is a "Franken-plane" as far as I'm aware, assembled from bits and pieces of B-24s, B-25s, etc.

Still, we can't bemoan Il-2 for what it doesn't have. We should praise it for what it does have, which is far beyond what any other sim has offered.

IL-2 is of the nature that if a plane is to be implemented then it should at least be attempted to do it right. That hasn't held true in 100% of all cases but a solid effort has been given in many cases to get the aircraft right.

We need all of the elements of night time operations to really do it right. It looks like we have a beginning with some MOD and Team Daidalos efforts to bring us the Bf110G-4 with functioning radar. It needs a variety of targets and time...and if that can be done. Then I'm sure a He 219 could be a good follow on.

If I'm not mistaken the He 219 had a top speed over 400 mph correct? Impressive for such a well armed and larger in size aircraft.
