Default Advice: should i buy "fisical" CLOD?

I am not a Clod player because i still dont have a computer able to run it, and i am thinking of geting new rig only within a year. I found a remaining copy of Clod in a local store (the one with the fabric map, it is the original from march 2011 launch), its now 63 euros (was 70). I am not used to that STEAM stuff, and i dont like it, i prefer to have the disc with me. So the question is: Should i grab it? ( i know i will not see it any more) It is only intended for me to use in the future as an offline game, to learn more about complex engine management, and to practice take of and landings. In the box says "Requires online activation to play" Realy? And everytime i want to play do i need connection, or just once? (do they still provide the activation or the site is shutt down?) Is STEAM involved in the DVD copy i want to buy? Are there any limit of installs i can do in my rig?
And is there any "crack" so i dont have to use the DVD everytime i want to play?
I do it in the il2 1946, i have the original well stored in the shelv
