Default Just for the sake of argument...

1. If 1C pulls the plug, will any of you still keep flying CLOD?

2. If they do and close this forum where will we go to beat on one another?

IF CLOD dies then yes, i will still fly it, and watch my cute little defiants.

Actually if it dies I will see who picks it up or whether users might get code access.

Personally, if BOM fails in Russia, developed by a Russian company then this recession is biting far deeper than I imagined.

1: I don't fly it much as it is, but I wouldn't do it any less if MG were dissolved.

2: I'd probably gravitate towards the Blairgowrie OT forum at Ubi and SAS for Il-2 related stuff, and the RoF forum for the rest.

I'm sure some will. I certainly won't because I hardly fly it at all now.

I hope most of the users here go to the ubi.com forums. This community is actually pretty awful.

1C being here, or not, had little effect most of the time anyways, so I'll keep flying, with the planes that are most convincing in terms of RL-performance, as I did from the start.

That would be a sad day!, I doubt I could go back to the original series.

I still have about 4 ROF planes that I bought but haven't flown yet.... And The DCS sims.

But we are a fickle group of people us Flight Simmers! I guess I would fly it until something better came along.

I really hope that the development of the series continues.

Cheers!

Well currently I only use CloD to make screen shots. The graphics in it are (or were at least in the early versions) superb for that.

Sadly it misses so much of the early promises with features being taken away rather than being fixed that I can't consider it to be a 'Simulation', but rather a competent flight game.

Saying that, it is far better than many out there, but I only play offline and there is so little to do. Even a QMB ported from the original would have made a huge difference.

It's a shame (if it is 'over') that the dev's didn't actually take notice of the bugs that were being logged and fix them rather than start work on a sequel? If the foundation had been solid then the future work would have had a solid support to be built on. As it stands the foundation is competent but not good enough to build on.

What I do wonder is if 1c/Maddox does disband then maybe the game engine could be purchased by a another group who could possibly finish what was started?

It seems that where money is involved, anything can be bought so I am sure Ubisoft would love to make some money from their intellectual property?

However with no official confirmation or denial the threads (like this) will keep appearing and for every one not addressed the rumours will gather momentum!

For now Iam happy to hang out at the Cliffs of Dover forum at Sim HQ where threads like this ar currently open for people to discuss the situation as it develops.

Cheers, MP

Expect the worse... if it all goes Pete Tong it makes no difference.
if on the other hand someone manages to sort all of this out, you can be pleasantly suprised!

I bought CloD at release and have been thoroughly disappointed as I couldn't get it playable on any of my systems.
Until I built a new system a couple of weeks ago. Although CloD wasn't the reason I built a new system, I did take great pains to build a system that would run it - ASUS P8Z77-V, I5 3570k, 32Gb RAM, SSD, Win7 64 Bit, and the overclocked 7970 3Gb video card.
I installed the game still not expecting it to run but was very impressed that it runs on maximum details, and runs beautifully. I flew a quick mission battling a bunch of 110's down low over London figuring that would test the game pretty well, and it performed flawlessly. Awesome!
But after flying a dozen or so missions I'm losing interest. The map is tiny, there are few planes to fly, and the missions are generally fairly short with few aircraft in the sky. I'm missing the immersion that IL2 has provided over the years. I miss the feeling of satisfaction that comes after completing a grueling two-hour flight, even if I failed the objectives. Actually thinking about my AI squadron mates and wanting them to return to base with me. Getting jumped by surprise enroute to the target as well as on the return flight, after surviving the battle over the target.
Yes, the graphics are wonderful and the complexities of flying the machines are a step up from IL2, but neither make me want to continue playing the game over IL2. For me it's nothing more than FSX with machineguns, great for an occasional flight just to revel in the graphics but that's about it for me.
Basically, I can't see me spending much time in CloD regardless of whether the company exists. I've spent more money on worse sims so I don't feel ripped off at all, just very disappointed. I will say though that I didn't have any significant problems with glitches, failures or bugs - my disappointment is entirely with the game itself, not the problems with it - in other words, "fixing" the game won't make it any better for me.
I do look forward to the sequel though as it surely has to be better than CloD.

EDIT: I should mention that I actually bought another copy of the game when I started building the system in the hope it might be different to the original release in some way - I have no idea if the DVD's are any different though.
