Default Luftwaffe Skin(s) by Matze81

Hey guys!

I'm not sure if the "(s)" in the thread title is warranted, but time will tell, I guess.

The following is a "work in progress" of a desert 109 skin.

Yeah, I know it's not the right scenario, but I like the skin, so here it goes...

I'm not going for extreme historical accuracy! The whole thing is based on an incredible CoD-Video (Link) by FF*Ph0b0s*95. I really loved the 109 skin in the video, but did not find a download link anywhere.
So I decided, I wanted to create something similar. I adjusted some things based on the well known original photo(s) but there's still quite a bit "artistic freedom" involved.

A big "Thanks" to JG26_EZ for his Template and his friendly support!

Additional thanks to Maler, Jutocsa and Cpt. Farrel!

Hope you like it!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it!
Unfortunately I don't have time to finalize it at the moment.

If this is Werner Schroers or Fw. Franz Elles Me 109, the spinner is half red and white.

I know its still wip.

Damn.. I had done this skin aswell, but hadn't noticed the spinner either.. (I had done half white, half black)

Now that I have started to look, I am seeing no one is completely sure..

I've seen skins with "half red, half white", "quarter red, white, red, white", "three-quarter red, one quarter white"

Does anyone have a pic or literature to back up which scheme was used..?

PS.. I like your shade of brown better

@LcSummers
I experimented with an adjusted (changed black to red), quartered red/white spinner, I borrowed from Cpt. Farrel's Franz von Werra skin, but decided to go with the plain white one instead.
Like I said, the skin is based on the one FF*Ph0b0s*95 used in his video, which I still like very much! And he also used a white spinner.
But I can release it with a bi-colored spinner once it's finished. That won't be a problem.

@JG26_EZ
I stumbled over a screenshot of your skin on your website, while I was already far into the project and I thought: "If I see a download link, I'm gonna kick myself!" After all, I started making this skin, because I couldn't find it anywhere to be downloaded.
Pretty cool btw, that you tried to copy even the camo pattern correctly!

As for the shade of brown, I can't really take credit for that. I just used the colors of the video. Video-compression might have distorted 'em a bit, but they work well I think.

Thanks for you feedback guys! Appreciate it!

Doesnt matter at all mate!!

I have some books and plastic kits, there the spinner is red. I only wanted to mention that. I for myself like both versions.

lol Matze. I feel the same way when i decide to start a skin.

I didn't upload it because I took my time finishing it, got distracted and started another (have 3 or 4 "almost ready" skins in this state).

Re: camo markings.. I had found a printable template for painting a model. I took the template, resized it and put it on a transparent layer and then traced it.

JG26_EZ,

i have Schroers/Fw. Franz Elles skin from Tamiya 1/48 Me 109E-4/7 or a book called German Fighterplanes1939-1945 in coloured profiles from Claes Sundin and Christer Bergström. Schroer flew it only a few times, Fw. Franz Elles flew it more often than Schroer. I cant remember where i read or have it.

or have a look over here:
