In Game Multiplayer Chat

I was able to create a chat window.However I can only get the text box to type in when I create another info window and then click on the chat window.Is this the proper way to use the chat window?

Also if the type text window is open any keyboard commands I use to operate things in the cockpit do not work and the keystroke appears in the text to send box.Normal?

Also what ever is in the chat window stays with the chat window when I exit one server and join another.Is this normal?
