Default Spit Engine Temp Model Quirky?

Fellow RAF pilots,

Has anyone noticed flight-to-flight variability in engine temp behavior (online flying)? I'm pretty consistent in my RPM, boost, and pitch settings for climb out and cruise, and on some flights it easy to keep temps under control, even difficult to get overheat unless radiator is closed. On other flights in the same session (same model aircraft), the engine overheats very, very easily. Am I imagining this or is there something going on that I'm not aware of?
