To reduce the stutters, a PCI SSD would help? What do you think? At the moment they are very expensive and in gaming ??? Do anyone used it. Thanks. |

YesNo
Impossible to make a qualified comment without knowing your exact PC configuration. The stutters are caused by a variety of reasons. Some reasons are when th system needs to load information that is stored on the hard disk, into the main memory. These stutters will be avoided. From your post it is unclear if you experiense these stutters or stutters caused by other reasons. ~S~ |

My rig is 10 year old, very passé. I am planning to build a new one, the spec will be something like that: Case Obsidian 800D or Rosswill Black Hawk Motherboard ASRock extreme 6 (X79, 2011) I7 3930 SSD Samsung 830 32 Gig Vengence 1600 And using a ramdisc Window 7 64 bits A friend of mine is experiencing with ramdisc, he have problems often. He might be with a 32 bits OS !!! I am not sure. Maybe 64 bit work better with ram disc. Sooo, instead of using a ramdisc I was wondering, maybe if I use a Pci SSD. But again, my budget is not illimited and there is so many choices. Thanks for the help. |

Oh, looks like a very nice system!
Ok, forget about the PCI stuff. HDDs are today SATA (serial ATA) and they are much much faster than what you are used to. In addition, hard disks and Win7-64 use NCQ (native command queing) that is accept multiple data fetch commands and sort them out in the best possible way (unlike your 10years old HDD). You 32Gb RAM make me feel jealous ![]() With this amount of RAM I would recommend you to buy a big (2Tb-2,5Tb) Hard Disk SATA with 7200rpm First Partition should be small 100-150Gb for Win7-64. As little as possible there in order to ensure the system runs well and there is a little fragmantation as possible. Last Partition should be 50-80Gb for the TEMP directory and for the swapfiles (swapfile you will never need anyway). In between you have space for all your data, games etc. I use RAMDRIVE, it is magnificent and it will always be faster than a SSD. As I said once: With so much RAM (I am getting jealous...) you do not need to spend money on a SSD drive [unless if you want to use a SSD for your Win7 OS]. RAMDRIVE is a fantastic tool and in combination with the Link Shell Extension it is an excellent way to speed up loading times and avoid any delays due to HDD slow access (if no SSD). What is the fastest way: An SSD for Win7 + an SSD for your apps But because SSDs are still small (capacity-wise) you are always better off with: An SSD for Win7 + a 2Tb HDD for your apps + RAMDRIVE images Here is the link with all explanations: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=20228 ~S~ |

Thank you very much 335th_GRAthos, it was very help full. I think I will go for a small SSD and a large Hdd like you suggested plus the 32 Gig of ram. My rig is comming this summer, yay and thank you again. -- Papy |
