Default How to Stop Shooting Parachutes!!

It is totally unrealistic to see cruisers, battleships, air carriers firing all their big guns to try to take a lonely parachuted enemy pilot that landed in the sea.

It is the same on land were artillery, machine guns, anything active and that can fire will try to kill the parachuted pilots and crew even when they land.

I would agree that machine guns and small caliber will try to shoot paratroopers and pilots or crew falling from the sky. This happened. But not larger guns like howitzers etc.

Is there a way to avoid that ?

If not then in the patch 4.09 it must really not be a big thing to have the parachuted pilots and crew be considered as neutral objects so as not to be fired on automatically.

To model early war Japanese aircrew, Pacific Fighters developers added the option of turning OFF parachuting aircrew in each aircraft flight. In a classic example of community independent thinking, the customers use this PF feature for more important purposes -- disabling parachutes to stop tanks and ships from firing main guns at parachutes, and equally important in all WW2 theaters, to stop hundreds of parachutes killing computer performance in large heavy bomber formations. Think of seven or more parachutes for every heavy bomber, multiplied by dozens of downed bombers, as the parachutes take a very long time to land. The parachutes kill cpu (not grafix card) performance because they are collision objects for player plane, and targets for all guns large and small, and all this has to be calculated like they are simplified AI aircraft.

...turn parachutes OFF in FMB.

The mission maker should be able to set a global "probability of gunner firing on parachutes". It would be similar to setting weather conditions.

Lexx I know about the feature to avoid having crew jumping with parachutes.
For japanese fighter pilots it is realistic not to have them with parachutes. In reality they did not carry very often parachutes for weight and honor purpose. They could not stand to be captured anyway. So to bail out was not an option. But except this case we need parachutes.

My rig is powerful enough to be able to manage many parachutes without any disturbing loss of performance. So I regret that we cannot better control firepower on parachutes.
