Default Dedicated server software 4.09 and Win98SE il2fb.exe for 1946

As some of you may know , Securerom had to make a special il2fb.exe for us win98SE users because the one that came with the 1946 DVD didn't work for win98SE. And the no DVD exe that is out there only works for WinXP.

Therefore can you make sure any Punkbuster or other software that will be used in the 4.09 dedicated server software to prevent mods and hacks on dedicated servers allow us Win98SE users to use our il2fb.exe?

The file size is a whopping 3.89 MB btw

I can send it to you if need be or get it from Securerom

I ask this beacuse on coop servers and DF servers when they set

checkServerTimeSpeed=2

it blocks us Win98 users who use the Securerom il2fb.exe due to the different file size.

This also happens when the servers are running 4.08

Cropduster, I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ here, but have you ever considered up-grading your ten year old OS? I really doubt that your computer, joystick, and other peripherals are that old. You can buy XP for less than $100 U.S. now. Compared to what people spend on video cards and joysticks, that really isn't that much money.

On the box of 1946, it says under SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: WinXP/2000/ME/98SE. So any further software added to IL2 must live up to this standard....even Win98SE

The dedicated server wasn't part of the software supplied on the 1946 disk. It's not reasonable to expect the developer/volunteers to write better anti-cheat protection for the ded server AND add to the list of requirements compatibility with an OS that is ten years old.

There is a world of difference between 98SE and XP. It will be the best $100 you ever spent. After 2 service packs, XP is so good, the list of reasons to upgrade from XP to Vista is here:
