The Forum Users fix list

Thought i would compile a list of all the fixes that have helped me and a lot of others to play this Great game..
These fixes are for people who cannot play the game
I take no credit for these fixes, They are from other forum users..

1. When you first install cliffs of dover.. go here, for steam install
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist
And install-Directx-, And, dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64-And anything else in there
Even if steam has already done it,
Dont forget to restart your computer afterwards

2.The Directx fix
Go here..C:\Users\xxx\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover
And open config, change this setting about 5th line down,
Render=D3D10_0 to Render=D3D9_0 This works with windows 7 as well

3.AVG..
Turning off AVG helps at times Or if avg pops up to say it has detected a virus, in one of your Cliffs of dover files,
Just allow it, and it should work afterwards

4.If you see black window and stopped video driver
1. go to start, click on run, Or click in search box, and type Regedit
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\GraphicsDrivers

This is the Registry key location where you must add a new entry/value
When you open regedit.exe it displays you'r regestry as a tree, like folders in exlorer.
1st thing to locate is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" (it should be one of the top 'folders' )
when you open it you need to find "SYSTEM"
in "SYSTEM" you need to look for CurrentControlSet etc...
untill you get GraphicsDrivers

3. Create DWORD 32bit

This creates a new registry value entry. think you can do it by right click on "GraphicsDriver" , else select (left click) on "GraphicsDriver" and add a new value from the menu.

4. We name - TdrDelay and appropriate parameter 12

When you create a new value (MAKE SURE THE TYPE IS REG_DWORD ie. a 32bit integer value) you need to name it "TdrDelay" and set its value to 0x00012 (this is hexadecimal ==> decimal value 18 )
5. Reboot Your computer
I hope this will help others..

You might want to edit the Direct X tweak, many with DX10 are getting errors and/or worse performance when setting the DX9 setting.

Like i said, this is for people that cant get the game to run, the dx9 fix is one of the things that got me into the game

Great stuff, Doc, but don't you think the devs or the publishers should be doing this?!!!!

After all the patch list doesn't seem to mention anything at all about people not even being able to get in-game...
