I have to turn trees "off" and then back "on" again to get them to render

I have trees set to "very low" yet every time I start the game, I have no trees. I then have to turn them off, then on again to get them to render. Gets rather annoying doing it again every mission.
I know I have had this problem for atleast the last couple of patches.
