Default Smoke draw distance?

In a future patch is it possible to have the draw distance of smoke coming off plane fires (both big and small) to be bumped up to realistic levels? The particles stop spawning at a very short range right now (fuel leaks render further than smoke).
I did some test with smoke emitters that do render at long range and even with stacks of smoke it didn't really effect frame rates until you stick the camera right into the particles (which isn't a problem here!).

1. Plane on fire (bonus Sunderland error with that door frame that wanted to stay with the fuselage)
2. Same plane viewed from 2.22 distance seconds later (smoke from first shot still there but no new smoke)

I couldn't believe it when I saw the smoke suddenly turn off. The smoke need to rendered for a much longer distance.

agreed, such details definately kill the immersion more than the couple FPS they probably save.
