Default Can't save tracks?

Can anyone help me, whenever I go to start recording a track it brings up a windows explorer save box but the game (and the box) also stops responding completely and has to be killed in the task manager.
I've tried that compatibility tick box thing but it didn't work (I think mine was already set to the right thing).
Win 7 full admin rights btw.
