Default First impressions (russian forum thread)

Some of the first lucky owners in russia already installed the game, and they are telling about it in this forum thread (russian), something to follow up as it will get supplied with more posts:

http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=67803 and this would be the screenshots thread: http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=67814

Youtube videos channel thread http://www.youtube.com/user/Vaal87?feature=mhum#g/u

post #27 is from a guy who is telling his first impressions

and some quick of my broken translation:

1) The transition when navigating from one menu to another is not smooth, standard windows cursor.
2) When you crash the plane, some big stutters occurs, that doesn't look good.
3) Lot's of freezings.
4) When browsing the aircraft section, the textures appears and loads slowly on the aircraft and on the pilots.
5) With graphics settings "MEDIUM", FPS when flying over land is about 45-50, inside the cockpit 35-45. Not so comfortable.
When the mission is loading, the fps is 5-8 and over London, you probably understand ...
6) The sound is just from il-2. i don't have some decent external speaker system.
7) Cockpit and water are great!

The translation is pretty garbled. What are they talking about Track Ir and Freetrack? Any Bilingualists care to inform us?

The link was dead for me too but I was able to just go to the main forum page and browse to the thread.

I am now officially glad I went nuts and got 12GB of RAM for my new rig. Can't wait to fly in Cliffs of Dover. Too bad about the sounds (although I can't say I didn't expect it). I maintain that Jane's WWII Fighters from 1998 had superior sounds to even the newest version of IL-2 and it sounds like Cliffs of Dover is saddled with the same stuff. Oh well, lets hope that a) the big release patch I read about somewhere gives sounds that are adequate or b) The devs enable the user to define a location of alternate sound samples (i.e. let external sound mods a la Jafa or Tiger33 be supported by the game). The visuals I have seen from CoD so far look excellent and I'm not worried about performance with my rig.

Cheers,

Yeah, I just read that too. I must say there was a sigh of relief when he talked about new sounds being recorded for CoD. I won't be completely at ease until I have heard the side-by sides.

Cheers,
