Hello
I'm flying an FM-2 and I have to escort a flight of TBF-1 Avengers to their target but the AI Avengers cant seem to take off from their aircraft carrier. They end up crashing into the sea or into the control tower usually blowing up everyone who hasn't taken off yet and sinking the aircraft carrier that they are on, making the mission impossible to complete. I've flown plenty of escort missions before and not had this problem, any help would be appreciated I'm playing IL-2 1946 with the 4.08m patch System: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Intel Core 2 duo 2.66 GHz Nvidia GTS 250 4 GB RAM |

I don't know a solution for this problem but maybe patching to 4.10 is an idea? That way if the problem persists, it can be included in the "bug reports" section.

Depending on carrier speed, weather type and skill level, there are all kinds of things that could be wrong.
What about these elements in the mission you were trying? Normal weather etc? |

who made the mission you are flying ? simply could be an error in the persons mission parameters setup (bomb and fuel load to heavy, carrier speed to low)
if it is an oleg vanilla version that came with the regular updates/patches, it should work ok. there was a bug early on in the initial PF release where carrier speeds were very low and many people had problems taking of from carriers with heavy loads. this was corrected later, and afaik the AI never had a major takeoff problem in oleg's missions themselves if it is a mission or campaign you got from a 3e party, there could be a mission design error (which most likely you can correct in the mission file, by increasing carrier speed (to give increased lift), or reducing bomb/fuel load |

I'm doing a US Navy Fighter Pilot dynamic campaign, i'm not running any mods and it's not a user mission.
I just downloaded the 4.10m patch and installed the spash screen pops up and the loading percentage gets to 5% before the game crashes back to the desktop. I read that this is caused by improperly patching and to retry the patch, well i've copied the patch over 3 times now and it still crashes at 5%. I even just reinstalled it and applied the 4.10 patch immediately afterwards but it's still crashing at 5%. Last edited by Wraith_V; 01-26-2011 at 11:54 AM. |

You should patch to 4.09m first before patching to 4.10.

Ok so i've now patched to 4.10m by installing the patches one after another, and the game loads up now.
But the AI bomber flight still keep crashing into their carrier on take off, this is what happens: Mission Starts 5 AI bombers (TBF-1 Avengers) are staggered on the carrier the first one is on the left side of the carrier AI bombers start their engines First AI bomber takes off from the carrier successfully Second AI bomber powers up his engine, releases chocks and swerves to the right, straight into the Aircraft Carriers control tower, he then blows up taking out the other 3 bombers still on the flight deck Mission Description: "Gentlemen! Lt.Reece will command a group of six FM-2s, your task is to escort TBF-1s to sector CB53" I'm playing as a US Navy Fighter pilot Dynamic campaign that came with the game, flying an FM-2 at Tarawa 20 Nov 1943 and i'm not running any mods. Its weird because I swear that i've escorted Avengers to a target before and not had this problem |

Shoot up the FMB (full miss builder) and edit your mission - set ordnance lower, fuel less, carrier faster.
They will all take off and you wont have a headache how to complete the mission. I've done such things. Yeah, for the whole career. |
