You have to keep in mind that this is a truck
RACING game. It's the sequel to Hard Truck that was a racing game. It's not really a simulation that I would describe like 18 WoS, and others are. This is more arcade style in-spite of how it was advertised. However, if scenery is one of the things that you would like to do.... I suggest you make the Traffic low/medium, and play at Novice. This gives you good time to complete your loads with less traffic, and enjoy the scenery.
