I've got the same problem ctd every time a mission starts.
game log:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.maddox.sound.SoundListRegistry.soundPreRender( Unknown Source)
...
so i set sound to "0" inside

after that missions starts and game is "working".
is there any workaround or further information about "sound problems" ?
my system is running win7 (x64).
i tryed to run the game in xp komp.mode and in vista mode. nothing works.
only help was turning OFF the ingame sound.
i had the same issue on a win xp (sp3) system ... (onboard sound and/or soundblaster sound card)
