Read: A Pictoral History of the Luftwaffe. I did my doctoral thesis at Baylor on why the Luftwaffe failed. It was a series of bad decisions, but that's beside the point. The pods were initially intended for the K-4, as I said earlier. However, they slowed the aircraft down and cause a roll instability to the left, as the K-4 was designed to be a high-speed interceptor and as such, sucked at low speed. They only put them on the Stuka as an afterthought, since it was the only low-speed attack plane in the inventory. Low-level, low-speed was contrary to everything the Luftwaffe was trying to do.
