That is weird, because I'm much faster than them on Sim? I rarely use WEP, unless I'm climbing.
Try and chase them, nose just below horizon. You'll go under them, but have more speed; pull up and spray and hopefully they'll panic and break. Then you can slot in behind and hose them.
EDIT: Sorry sounds like I'm assuming you don't know how to fly! I don't mean to patronise! Difficult to give tips on the internet without sounding like a know-it-all
