The germans did strafe civilians in France during the battle of France. But it was refugees columns on roads that were aimed. This was supposed to cause panic and havoc and slow down the french army capacity to circulate and reorganize. It worked well...
In this serie, the kids are playing in a field miles away from any road or military target. This is what was so crappy in the episode. I stopped watching it 10 minutes later because the nonsense kept increasing every minute.
