What you have to do is drag the shadvs file onto shadvsKi.exe. This will write the file as a text. Then when you're done, you have to drag the text file into shadvsBe.exe. This will overwrite the original shadvs file.
Note: Make sure the numbers at the top read like this:
100
0
Or else the file will not be overwritten.
I haven't experimented with them on Windows 8, however. If you still have problems, sorry, I can't help you out.
