Hardware Monitor
Just to be sure that it is not a hardware problem, download a utility that looks at GPU temperatures, such as HWMonitor. If you're graphics card is from nVidia, nVidia Inspector has a good monitoring utility built in also. You'll also need to find out what the maximum safe temperature is for the GPU from the manufacturer's specifications. If the temperatures are in line, and you don't have the same problem with other 3D games, then, yes, it is a software issue. Good luck.
