I've posted before about the complexity of a Vietnam era sim.

The big stumbling block IMHO is the necessity of having a functional AI "Man In Back". (Radar Intercept Officer). Very difficult to do, and an absolutely crucial position. The pilot would very quickly become task saturated in the high speed environment of Vietnam era engagements, if left to himself in the very complex USAF fighters of the period. Remember, they were reaching for 1980's weapons performance, with 1960's era computers.

Toss in the mission profile of a Wild Weasel F-105 and you have a nightmarish scenario for a single pilot.

Of course you could not do this and concentrate on single seaters only, but then you would be missing some of the best missions of that period.

Personally speaking, the P-40 could contend on an equal footing with all the types of Messerschmitts, almost to the end of 1943.
