Yes, since the 'friendly' gremlins never attacks you (they may/will use some useless debuff like pygmy or slow for example), it's easy to manipulate them. They will always respawn a certain unit on the predefined spot. If you park a good melee unit next to the spawning spot, that new stack will be unable to perform any ranged attack, so all your other units are perfectly safe. Put a Totem of Life nearby, and there you go: a neverending closed loop. Every x turns cast Lina's Chargers, have one fast unit collect the rage/mana, have the Inquisitors cast Holy Anger every second turn, have Reaper cast Rage drain every xx turns, there you go: neverending supply of mana/rage. I must admit that the idea is not mine, I just jumped in to..reap the fun and rewards
I still have tons of un-upgraded items in my inventory, since I consider the upgrade fights to be too valuable and rare to 'waste' them just like that. If I can upgrade the item, and at the same time 'gain' a couple hundreds of my most valuable/rare units like Inquisitors etc, why not wai a bit with the upgrading?
