The rules, to some degree, are forged by the squad Liaisons, based upon the draft rules implemented by the Board. The standard rules, the schedules, match points, and match lengths have been the same for years, and are widely accepted by all the participants. These are not just dogfights, these are strategic battles involving every aspect of the simulator, from flying cap to bombing, to reconnaissance. Based on historical battles, to win requires a practiced team effort. Each team gets an opportunity to fly as allied, then axis to complete a match. The emersive nature of the battles requires 60 minutes per round to accomplish a competitive score in closed pit. 45 minutes per round in open pit. While some squads refrain from competing due to a rule discrepancy, we currently have 31 competition teams registered with an eastern and western division in both open and closed pit genre's. We currently operate three USL game servers and a registered USL TeamSpeak.
This is an opportunity for your squad to do something other than fly in a pub server. This is an opportunity to bring your squad together as a formidable competition team and win a title that will not only bring your squad global recognition, but double or triple your popularity in recruiting, and gain your squad the respect of the flight sim community.
I would suggest posting your concerns at the USL forum, and being a part of the rule making process on behalf of your squad. You really don't want to miss this....
