I got the quest from the skeleton and I have found the head. However I can't pick it up since it is stuck in one of the tree roots emerging from the walls of the old castle. It is obviously a bug. I know this is gonna sound dumb but have u tried rotating the camera as much as u can, especially directly overhead? ive had a few like that..
i think i found the head in a corridor..
