Yeah, I gave up on no-loss after my first try on WoTN too, but it was a hard decision... I kinda get attached to my units in TBS/RTS games. Probably has something to do that the first such game I played was the old X-Com, where you get to remember all the heroics your soldiers did over the "years" of playing.
