You are right, this is the official forum of Cliffs of Dover.
SlipBall linked to a different website of a different Second World War flightsim currently being developed (probably not released before end of 2014).
To my knowledge, there is no planning to make Cliffs of Dover run without Steam. Personally, I am a friend of the Steam plattform, but this is another topic.
Thanks to the guys of Team Fusion who have published an amazing first version of their community patch (see the
thread in this forum or
official Team Fusion forum) that fixes a lot of technical limitations of the game and adds great new content, I regard Cliffs of Dover as quite alive. In addition there is an enthusiastic online community on popular servers like ATAG or SOW with up to 100 pilots flying simultaneously.
Especially, if you like flying online with and against human pilots in a very realistic flight simulation and have a capable computer at home, I strongly recommend Cliffs of Dover.
Just try it out - for under $10 not much to think about.
