Best A/C deserves a better mission than "cross-country".
Fly this mission "as is" and start 'cold and dark' in the hangar with quick easy taxi to the runway.
If you want quick air-start action, you can select Tiger Moth, and change to fighter of your preference. Another option is to select Blue and go strafing.
I did a lot of work to make this world look alive, including parked A/C with proper markings.
