I'm not sure if it is fixed in the latest patch (remove all your excess 3rd party fixes/patches).
As someone else pointed out, if you keep most of the army on the top and bottom lanes I find it is harder to "crash".
No guarantee though.
I would phantom or have one primary main stack attack and the others would shoot at him from the top/bottom lanes.
