Sorry Chivas I don't agree with you, they will have to do something to win back the trust and a time limited demo (or an open beta) would be the way to go. Microsoft has time limited betas for some software so where is the problem.
You have also stated that we should go on reviews by those that we trust with the sequel, who do we trust?. A lot of those posting in the forums could be classed as "fan boys", I certainly wouldn't trust their opinions. After seeing how the supporters of the Il2 series have been hung out to dry with the C.o.D. I certainly won't trust the developers with the sequel without proof, their specs will no longer mean anything to those who have waited 18 months only to be told that C.o.D. is finished.

To the developers: -

SHOW US THE PROOF

Microsoft can afford to have all the demos it would like. The new IL-2 developement has neither the time or the money to waste on a Demo. I didn't say to trust fanboy reviews, I said find one you could trust, maybe check out the reviewers that gave COD poor reviews last time and see if things have changed. Its all common sense, use it. There will be plenty of reviews, you should be able to figure it out.

I don't think that the new Il2 development can afford not to, at least it would give the team a wider base to find the faults before releasing the sequel to the public.
Give us an open beta or a playable time limited demo, either will be better than nothing. What do you have against that type of system apart from cost to the team? (it may end up being more benificial than not).
Is it that your'e worried that the result would mean the demise of the current Il2 series? or that too many faults would be found delaying further the release of the sequel.
Better to find most of the problems before another disaster hits, it would also get the community involved and supportive of the sequels (don't think that there won't be problems with the sequel, after 18 months of development with C.o.D. there are still problems that haven't been addressed).
With a new GUI and probably a revamped engine people will hold back and wait to see what has happened with the sequel, (not excactly what the developers and the investors would want) nobody in their right mind will jump in this time without some proof.

The reviewers that gave their opinions on C.o.D. certainly didn't find the problems that arose after release, certainly not things like CTD's, no dx9 support, no Sli/ Xfire support etc. The lack of dx9 support also ment no xp support (or problems with it). Now we have the problem of Windows 8. It is obvious from the lack of communication from the developers that we now have two sets of windows (xp and 8 ) that currently aren't considered worth the trouble.
Dear o dear how much worse can things get??.
