Smile Sink the Mayflower but don't limit the Internet

I am completely with the Viking even if I understand your point.

THIS IS THE INTERNET! The last place with total freedom of expression and unlimited "surfing". This place however is the "Far West", completely wild and savage and it is up to you to separate the good things from the filth!

It is not a place for kids! As an adult up to you to explore what you want to explore. Kids should do this only under strict supervision. Adolescents are another problem. It just puts more strain on your educational skills: you have to teach them actively what means love, tolerance, understanding (Amen ).... If you try to block their access to the full package of what you can find on the Internet they will get this over their friends' laptop.

Another thing, we all get from time to time this kind of Spam. You shouldn't be too uptight about it and your wife should understand this. The fact that you receive this kind of Spam doesn't mean that you are a pervert.

Recently, I visited a website about eye surgery to get some information before my operation. The forum of this website was just hijacked by some porn-oriented hackers ( or was it some kind of vision training to work on after your eye surgery?). Naturally, as you enter your email address into the forum you get a flood of porn spam afterwards. If your wife has doubts, just use this line to reassure her.

Seriously, I don't see the drama here. A few months ago, we got some spam about Buddhism and then Nike shoes, now it is the usual porn stuff. What the heck...Nobody got hurt...

" I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (attributed to Voltaire)

More regulations and protection seem desirable but this will kill the total liberty of expression of the Internet.

Cheers,

Eckhart
