I don't know if using JSGME to install & test patches and/or mods has been discussed in this forum before, but this little utility makes it very easy to install/uninstall patches or mods for testing and/or keeping.
I've been successfully using this utility with CloD and various other Games, being sure to always have a clean basic game installation 'beneath' the mods/patches to return to, in case something goes wrong.

Believe me, it makes testing and using patches and mods soo much easier, especially when adding up several mods on top of each other, ie. making a 'mod soup'
