Default I Could really use some help with these forums?

Hey gang,

I am new to CLoD. I purchased the sim through Steam a few days ago, and now it is installed. I have not got to spend much time in it so far - all I have done to date, is go into my graphics menu and adjust some settings per one of the faq's here - gone into controls and made sure my throtte, stick, rudder axis were mapped to the correct axis on my Cougar Hotas.

I did go in just for fun, in the takeoff and landing training in that biplane. Managed to pass them ok without much trouble. Too soon to tell from that, how this game will run on my setup.

My next step obviously is going to be to go into the controls again, and start the daunting task of mapping them to my setup, or creating a profile for my Cougar for the controls after assigning the key commands. Probably better to do the latter, as with a profile for my Cougar would give me access to much more that can be programmed to the buttons. I guess I could look at how I mapped my profile for IL2 1946 and get a baseline to get me started.

So much for introduction - now to the topic title: while I have had many hours of enjoyment in the past, first with IL2 FB, then PF, then IL2 1946 - I seem to be very overwhelmed out the chute with this sim I put off getting it until now, due to what I read about it shortly after it was released initially.

So going forward I am going to be needing some help and feedback undoubtedly. I have been reading some of these forums, and the stickies to hopefully give me a little head start. I had started with the Ubi forums, which back " in the day" were an awesome resource for info on the IL2 series up through 1946. Regarding CLoD, well the activity over there is pretty small. I figure I may have better chances over here.

But I got to tell ya, I think I am just as overwhelmed by these forums as I am with the product itself. I have already posted a couple times in here, and got some feedback which was good, but they are scattered and to tell you the truth I am not sure where.

The reason I am overwhelmed - it would appear at least, there are just so dang many choices of forums-subforms to choose from, for 1 sim! I am really not sure, where it would be appropriate for me to post and best chance of getting feedback. There is this particular forum, not sure where it falls in categories, I presume this one since it is just headed as Cliffs of Dover - would be considered maybe just a general forum, kind of a catch all? Or is there another forum within this one, subforum I guess, that would be more appropriate for me to ask questions as I go along that might help me in my progression, to just get me flying and somewhat know what I am doing in this sim?

In perusing and reading up these forums trying to gain knowledge, it appears there is just so much infighting going on within the community, and some back and forths with the developers, which kind of overshadows the real content... so I just want to make sure I post where 1: It is appropriate and the right place and 2: Stand the best chance of getting some good feedback, and learning from what others have already been posting.

Thanks for any help and guidance in steering me to the right place, it would be greatly appreciated.
