I routinely check this before every session..never have a problem in game.
I do use the active clip..very pleased with it and in the past was happy with the cap reflectors, but having the clip on the headset is a cooler experience.

The clip is more dependable than the reflectors and doesn't suffer from sunlight problems. Just need to spend a little time experimenting or even borrow someone else's profile. Be sure to position the camera in front of the earphone that carries the clip, not in the centre of the monitor.
I have TrackIR4 with TrackIR5 software. I do get very slight juddering when I scan around the terrain but that doesn't happen of I keep my head still and watch the terrain as I fly a turn. I guess its a TrackIR resolution or interface problem but its very slight and doesn't really bother me.
