Gauges are fine, it just has a weird layout. Presumably it was the navigator's/bombardier's job to monitor the cylinder head temperatures when he wasn't sitting in the nose position and that's why the gauges are mounted on the top right cockpit wall.

In the Mk.V the gauges were moved to the pilot's panel, but for battle of Britain the only valid variant is the Mk.IV
